As a Communications Specialist, you will dispatch, coordinate, and support security personnel in responding to and reporting Emergency (Critical) and Non-Emergency (Non-Critical) events. You are required to detect unfavorable situations, dispatch security officers, and make proper, time sensitive notifications to the appropriate levels of management. You shall also be a member of the Security Control Center (SCC) team, responsible for monitoring multiple security systems to aid in the safety and security of persons and properties. The functions of the technology based SCC include crisis management, security, customer service, and some elements of public speaking.

Specific Duties and Essential Functions

  • Reporting and notifications; providing interface during critical and non-critical emergency events from report to resolution. In addition providing constant information updates wherever applicable in an effort to ensure situations, events and incidents are resolved in an appropriate manner.
  • Access control; using CCTV to monitor exterior doors, building perimeters and sensitive building areas (data centers, executive areas, market room etc); Acknowledge forced open and held open alarms; monitor badge activities using C*Cure; Monitor and verify access; Provide momentary door unlocks and access to card-reader doors and garage gates.
  • Customer service; Ensure that all forms of communication (email, phone conversation etc) are all done in a courteous and professional manner; serving as an emergency information HUB system for our client.
  • Life safety and emergency response; Ability to guide and assist clients during emergency and non-emergency situational phone calls (trapped elevator); Respond to C*Cure alarm notifications for various event activations.
  • Supporting the Security Solutions Team (SST) during business hours with local badging and parking decal/placard requests; Providing after hours support processing Emergency DCF & Data Center Storage room access requests; Processing the HR Termination reports, Confiscated Badge-Active notifications & Immediate Termination badge disable requests.
  • Generating SEAMS Security Equipment work tickets to include documenting Security Vendor technician arrival/departure and status of work that was completed and tested.


Education, Licenses and Certifications Required

  • Ability to meet and maintain any applicable licensing or certification requirements
  • Must possess a college degree in Mass Communications, Technology, Emergency Response, Criminal Justice or related fields

Type and Length of Specific Experience Required

  • Must possess a minimum of 2 years of experience in security/customer service
  • Must possess a minimum of 2 years of documented experience as a 911 operator, operator in a control center, command center, security communications center, tactical operations center, emergency dispatch center or similar environment
  • Work history to include demonstrated knowledge of access control systems, closed circuit television systems, radio communications, telecommunications systems, and security systems technology

  • Must be able to demonstrate proficiency with Microsoft Office applications
  • Ability to operate radio or telephone equipment and/or console monitors
  • Ability to interact cordially and communicate with the public

  • Ability to identify critical issues quickly and accurately

  • Must be at least 18 years old or the minimum age required by the State, if higher
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or a foreign citizen authorized to legally work in the United States
  • Subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law
  • Must be able to provide, upon job offer, a DD214 discharge document with discharge status indicated, if prior military

Physical Requirements and Environment

Environment: Office, minimum to no exposure to extreme temperatures

Major activity: Working on PC and using telephone/radio while sitting

Physical efforts to carry out job duties: Limited, to include some standing, bending, light lifting, and limited stretching and reaching.
